Sparkling Lemonade

by Rachel on May 20, 2010

When life gives you lemons, well, you know the drill.

Nothing beats homemade lemonade.  Our Meyer lemon trees produce the most aromatic, flavorful, juicy lemons.  We love them.  Lemonade made straight from the tree is so delicious.  Plant a tree if you have to, and try some!

Garden Fresh Sparkling Lemonade

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups hot filtered water
  • 3 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (Meyer lemons are best)
  • 1 750 ml bottle sparkling water

Lingering lemons late for lemonade.

In a small bowl mix the hot water with the sugar until the sugar dissolves.  Allow to cool.  Mix the juice together with the sugar water.  Add sparkling water and ice.  Serve.

I am envious of your Meyer lemon tree. Where I live we don’t have easy access to fresh Meyer lemons, so what I do is just go online (http://www.buy-meyer-lemon.com/ ) and order from growers that pick them right off the trees and ship them direct — a tip I learned from my cousin in Canada. This way I get fresh Meyer lemons picked from the tree without all the time sitting in cartons, trucks and warehouses.

The photographs you have here are excellent!

I’m glad to hear that you can at least get Meyer lemons shipped to you. We are lucky. I have three small trees and they produce enough lemons for an entire village!! Thanks for the compliment on my photos!

Do you happen to know the health benefits of Meyer lemons? Are they any different from Eureka lemons? Or Lisbon lemons? I can’t get Meyer lemons where I live either and so am excited that I can find them online. Meyer lemons are so popular now I want to learn everything I can about them.
