Smoky Black Beans

I was sent samples of “I Love Two Fat Guys” gluten-free BBQ sauce. This is my second recipe using their products. These beans are insanely good. I mean this with all my heart and all my soul. I love these beans. I could eat them plain for lunch and I would be one happy momma.

Smoky Black Beans with I Love Two Fat Guys Gourmet BBQ Sauce (Gluten-Free and No High Fructose Corn Syrup)

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • ½ cup red onion, finely diced
  • 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup Smokey BBQ Sauce (Two Fat Guys offers a number of types of BBQ Sauce – I used the Smoky version for this recipe)
  • 1/3 cup fresh cilantro, finely diced
  • 1/3 cup cotija cheese, crumbled for garnish

Heat the olive oil in a 1 quart saucepan. Add the red onion and sauté until the onion is soft, 10-12 minutes. Add the black beans and the BBQ Sauce. Simmer over low heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. There will be very little liquid left at the end of the cooking process. Serve with a garnish of finely diced cilantro and crumble cotija cheese. HEAVEN. Serve them with a warm corn or flour tortilla and you’ll be in bliss.

I Love Two Fat Guys BBQ is giving away 2 jars of sauce, a spatula, a jar opener, a cutting board and a wicker basket. Winners must live in the United States.

My favorite BBQ recipe is my husband’s maple syrup baked beans, but I am very intrigued by the Smoky Black Beans recipe. I’ve never had BBQ black beans, but I”m sure they’re delicious!

My mom makes these baked bbq beans that are my favorite. There are probably 4 kinds of beans in there, plus ketchup and brown sugar and mustard and I don’t know what else. They’re salty and sweet and tangy all at once. This is reminding me that I need to get the recipe- again – and save it somewhere special.

I love everything in this gift basket!! My favorite BBQ recipe is this slow cooker pulled pork with the best BBQ ingredient in it – brown sugar!
